Culinary Program

The Culinary Arts program at Estero High School provides students with hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for both post-secondary education and careers in the hospitality industry. Through a sequence of Culinary 1–4 courses, students develop foundational and advanced skills in food preparation, safety, sanitation, nutrition, and hospitality management.

Students begin with Culinary 1, where they focus on kitchen safety, Serv Safe food handling, and basic cooking techniques. As they progress through Culinary 2 and 3, students expand their knowledge in international cuisines, baking, menu planning, and food cost analysis while refining their knife skills and culinary methods. By Culinary 4, students operate in a more professional, industry-style setting where leadership, teamwork, and advanced culinary skills are emphasized.

Professionalism is a core part of the program. Students are expected to meet high standards of workplace behavior, communication, and responsibility, preparing them for real-world employment. Many students pursue the nationally recognized Serv Safe Certification, giving them a competitive advantage for jobs in restaurants, catering, and hospitality.

Beyond the classroom, students participate in catering events, culinary competitions, and community service projects, providing authentic opportunities to apply their skills. They also explore career pathways in culinary arts, hospitality management, nutrition, and entrepreneurship.

The program is designed not only for students interested in culinary careers but also for those who want to build valuable life skills. Graduates leave the program with confidence in the kitchen, a strong work ethic, and a clear understanding of the career opportunities available in one of the world’s largest industries. At Estero High School, Culinary Arts is more than just cooking—it’s about preparing students for success in life, education, and the workplace.
