EHS- Academy of Hospitality and Tourism

Join this exciting academy in the fall of 2009 and enter the world of hospitality and tourism.  This program prepares students for employment in a variety of occupations in the hospitality industry and focuses on broad, transferable skills.  Additionally, the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism will stress understanding and demonstration of the following elements:  planning, management, finance, technical, and production skills.

Upcoming sophomores are encouraged to make application to the Academy early spring of 2009.  Acceptance will be based on a minimum of a 2. GPA, attendance, and appropriate discipline standards.  All of the courses within the Academy are considered electives and do not replace the academic core courses.   (For 2008-09 school year, juniors may also make application to the Academy but will be enrolled in two courses in this sequence.)

Course Sequence:
Sophomore                  Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism
Junior                          Computer Technology for Travel and Tourism
   (summer of Senior year*)   Hospitality and Tourism Internship
Senior                          Travel and Tourism Marketing/Management

*Seniors students may elect their internship during their senior year or select it as an OJT credit.

All Academy  students will have the opportunity to earn the Gold Seal Scholarship which will pay for 75% of their college education.
