Teacher recommendation required.
The purpose of this course is to develop oral and written fluency in Spanish.
French I-III
French I
07013200 (Grades 9—12) 1 Credit
French I provides the student with a sound basis for learning contemporary French and increases student’s awareness and understanding of the French-speaking world, its people and culture. Basic language skills are developed: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Co-curricular field trips are offered as part of class study.

French II
07013300 (Grades 10—12) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: French I & Teacher Recommendation Required
Based upon the same goals as French I, this course aims to provide continuing practice in developing the same skills learned at the first-year level, while reviewing and expanding upon the structures and vocabulary. Cocurricular field trips are offered as part of class study.

French III

Prerequisite: French I and French II & Teacher Recommendation Required
Based upon the same goals as French I and II, this course aims to provide continuing practice in developing skills acquired and learned in levels one and two, while again reviewing and expanding upon the structures and vocabulary presented in French I and II. Grammar points are completed at this level. Co-curricular field trips are offered as part of class study.

The purpose of this course is to enable students to begin to acquire proficiency in Spanish through a linguistic, communicative and cultural approach to language learning.

Pre-AICE Spanish II

Prerequisite: Pre-AICE Spanish I
This course continues with the objectives and content of Pre-AICE Spanish I with the goal of preparing students to continue into AICE Spanish class and complete the AICE Spanish exam.
Spanish I-IV

The purpose of this course is to enable students to begin to acquire proficiency in Spanish through a linguistic, communicative, and cultural approach to language learning. Emphasis is placed on the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and on acquisition of the fundamentals of applied grammar. Cross-cultural understanding is fostered and real-life applications are emphasized throughout the course.

The purpose of this course is to enable students whose heritage language is Spanish to develop, maintain, and enhance proficiency in their home language by reinforcing and acquiring skills in listening, speaking, reading, and
writing, including the fundamentals of Spanish grammar. The course content will reflect the cultural values of Spanish language and societies. The course will enable students to gain a better understanding of the nature of their
own language as well as other languages to be acquired.
