- On March 24th, 22 talented Drawing and Painting students along with 22 creative Ceramic students entered their 2-D and 3-D artwork in the Estero Festival of the Arts. The gallery truly focused on the hard work and dedication the students have given for the 2011-2012 school year. We are extremely proud of you! Mrs. White & Mrs. Hambling

Estero High School Art II students worked diligently to represent our school for the Pride and Patriotism Contest. 9th and 10th graders had the topic “Courage, Pride, Duty , and Honor,” and the 11th and 12th graders had the topic “Freedom is Not Free.”
Department Course Offerings
01023005 (Grades 9 –12) .5 Credit
These courses are designed for the student who wants to learn the medium of clay and the art of pottery. Students will learn the basic vocabulary, tools, and methods of producing good ceramic pieces. The student will also learn the various methods and processes of glazing and firing.
Ceramics/Pottery II
01023100 (Grades 10 –12) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Ceramics/Pottery I
These courses are designed for the advanced student in ceramics. The student will learn advanced designing, building, forming, and decorating techniques. Some knowledge of the used of ceramics and its history will be
gained, as well as methods and criteria for judging good pottery.
Ceramics/Pottery III
01023200 (Grades 10 –12) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Ceramics/Pottery II
These courses are designed for the advanced student in ceramics. The student will learn advanced designing, building, forming, and decorating techniques. Some knowledge of the used of ceramics and its history will be
gained, as well as methods and criteria for judging good pottery.
01043205 (Grades 9 –12) .5 Credit
This course is designed to teach the student the basic fundamentals of drawing and composition. The student is exposed to a variety of drawing and painting media and learns techniques peculiar to these various media. The student will develop his/her ability to see and learn techniques to visually communicate what he/she sees to others through the drawing and painting media.
01043300 (Grades 10 –12) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Drawing I
This course is designed to further the fine arts student’s development of abilities in drawing and painting. Included in this curriculum are continuing experiences in drawing media and techniques and an introduction to various painting media such as opaque and transparent watercolor.
Drawing and Painting III
01044000 (Grades 10 –12) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Drawing and Painting I, II & Teacher Recommendation
The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop advanced perceptual, observational, and compositional skills necessary to communicate a range of subject matter, symbols, ideas, and concepts using knowledge of drawing and painting media, processes, and techniques.
01093100-01093200 (Grade 11 and 12) 1 Credit
Interview with the Art Department is required to apply for this class.
The purpose of this course is to develop a portfolio containing an artist's statement and a diverse range of the student’s own advanced works of art.
